Frequently asked questions

Straight answers on pricing, scope, and how we work.

How does marketing retainer pricing work at Kognis?

Three components: a fixed monthly retainer for strategy and execution, a media management fee that's a percentage of your ad spend (not deducted from it), and a growth share on revenue above agreed targets. Combined, total marketing investment runs 13–22% of revenue under ₹2 Cr, easing to 6–7% above ₹50 Cr.

What is a growth share fee, and when does it apply?

At the start of every engagement we agree on realistic revenue targets together. The growth share applies only to revenue generated above that benchmark — starting at 10% and scaling with outperformance. It never touches revenue you'd have made without us.

Does the media management fee come out of my ad budget?

No — it's a separate fee on top of your media spend, not deducted from it, so your full ad budget still goes to media. The percentage declines as spend grows: roughly 9–10% for smaller budgets down to about 3% at scale.

Do I need to sign a retainer to work with Kognis?

No. Three fixed-scope engagements — Sector Snapshot, Brand Architecture, and GTM & Growth — exist for teams not ready for an ongoing partnership. Each is a bounded, one-off deliverable, no retainer required, and a natural way to test the working relationship first.

What's included in the fixed monthly retainer?

Dedicated strategist time, planning, an operating cadence, monthly business reviews, and ongoing execution management — the strategic and operational foundation of the partnership. The retainer scales gradually as your business grows in complexity, not in sudden jumps.

Does Kognis handle production work like photoshoots or video?

Not as core scope. Pure production — shoots, one-off logo or naming work, isolated media buying — sits outside what we do directly. We can take an advisory role overseeing trusted partners for these, or make an introduction if you'd rather run it yourself.
